Russian Church to open children hospice in Moscow

Moscow, September 20, Interfax - The Moscow Patriarchate organizes a fundraising action for children hospice on September 25 in frames of charitable event The Day of White Flower.

"It is planned to open the hospice in Sts Martha and Mary Convent where the event will take place. Ambulatory service will start working on October 3, and we still need about 4 million rubles for launching in-patient department," Synodal Department for Church Charities and Social Service told Interfax-Religion on Tuesday.

Children hospice at Sts Martha and Mary Convent will be the first in Moscow arranged not only for children with oncology, but also with other incurable diseases. According to some estimations, the number of such children in Moscow exceeds three thousand.

"The idea of organizing The Day of White Flower belongs to royal family (Family of Nicholas II - IF, this year it will be 100 years since it was launched. The essence of the feast is that all not indifferent people donate to the poorest and instead they receive the symbol of the feast - white flower," head of Charitable Programs in the Miloserdie Orthodox service Tatyana Romanova said.

The Day of White Flower will start in 11 a.m. on September 25 in Sts Martha and Mary Convent.
